Confidentiality

Counselors make every effort to respect privacy. However, to best serve children, there are times when school counselors consult with parents, administrators, teachers, other staff, and outside agencies.

If parents would like information to be shared with agencies or professionals outside the school system, they will be asked to sign a Release of Information Form.

School counselors are required by law to make referrals and disclose specific information to appropriate agencies under the following circumstances: suspicion of abuse/neglect or suspicion that a person is in danger. They are required to warn individuals who are in imminent danger. There is an obligation to uphold our school district policies and school rules related to student safety.
